Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing Reports

Here you can read the latest bass fishing reports from Scott Martin, Professional Tournament Angler, and Professional Bass Guide on Lake Okeechobee.

July/August 2003

The rain has really hit us hard over the last few months and the lake is at its highest level in a few years 17 ft. The lake usually is around 15.5 feet this time of the year. The fishing has been pretty constant with the rising water and the fish are on a fairly good top water bite. Spinner baits and soft jerk baits have also been a good choice. With the rising water the grass has not had time to catch up and shallow running crankbaits such a baby minus1 have been a fun way to catch them on cloudy days.
The fish are going to be moving farther back in the swamp getting ready for the spawn in Oct/Nov and the fishing should be great.
In November the shiner fishing will go "nuts" this is one of my favorite times of the year. The bass are always on a big migration this time of the year and are ready to eat.
So plan your trip to the Big ‘O’ as soon as you can. And please feel free to call or e-mail any time if you have any questions about fishing on Lake Okeechobee.
Bass Wishes,
Scott R. Martin
