Awesome!! The fishing has been very good for the last two weeks.
The big females have now moved in to spawn and we are catching many big fish off the beds.
The west side of the lake has been producing a lot of fish with spinner baits on the grass flats in the fairly clear water and in the very clear water we have been throwing senko's and watermelon colored twichbaits.
Pitching the holes in the ell grass has been a great way lately to win the local tournaments. During the last full moon last week the winning two day total weight was 72 lbs (6 fish per day) that's a 6lbs average. All of the tournaments lately have been taking a 5-6lbs average to win.
Spoons and flapping shad have been a great way to locate the fish on the flats and on cloudy days they have been producing a steady bite all day. 10" worms are also a good choice when you are in the thinner grass areas. Make long cast and work them very slow while pausing them when in a hole or open area.
Live Bait (shiners) fishing has been great. We have had many big fish crushing the shiner on the surface. 30-40 strikes per day on shiners are very common.

So plan your trip to the Big ‘O’ as soon as you can. And please feel free to call or e-mail any time if you have any questions about fishing on Lake Okeechobee.
Bass Wishes,
Scott R. Martin
