Lake Okeechobee, located in south central Florida is one of
the most unique fresh
water
lakes in the United States and it is considered to be “One of a
Kind”. Lake Okeechobee’s massive size of over 730 square miles
of surface water and average depth of 14 ft. deep make it a
paradise and is one of the prettiest places in Florida to visit.
The lake is full of native grasses and has miles of back-water
marsh areas that provide a wonderful place for wildlife to live
and flourish.

The largemouth bass and large pan fish population is what lake
Okeechobee is famous for, but being the headwaters of the
Florida Everglades it is full of many other species of animals.
The American Alligator, Pelicans, Manatees, Otters, Turtles,
Hogs, Turkeys, Deer and many types of wading birds cover the
shores of Lake Okeechobee year around. These bass infested
waters rank high on most fishermen’s list of “dream” places to
fish.
There
are only a few ports and launch ramps on Lake Okeechobee, the
most popular port and launch area is in the town of Clewiston on
the south west shore of the Lake Okeechobee. Clewiston provides
the safest access to the lake with many places to fish. Roland
Martin Marina in Clewiston Florida is Lake Okeechobee’s largest
marina facility with all t he
amenities.
Lake Okeechobee is a wonderful year around fishery, but during
the months of Oct. – end of July are the most popular times to
fish on Lake Okeechobee. The average water temps on the lake are
around 70-75 degrees during the spring months and the summer
month the water temps will reach 85-90 degrees. The bass will
spawn from Nov. thru the end of May which make Lake Okeechobee
the longest spawning period in the country and in-turn makes it
one of the best fishing places in the world.
